Jason is a very greedy, egotistical, narcissistic Compson son. He is a very slimy no good character within the book and does not have any redeeming qualities about himself. Jason is obsessed with money and will steal and scam people in order to get more of it. Jason steals money from his niece and will lie to his mother in order for her to give him more money. Jason also loves the idea that he is more powerful than the women and African Americans in his life. He is a very prejudice and disrespectful man.
On pg. 198 of this chapter Jason is quoted as saying " I never promise a woman anything nor let her know what I'm going to give her. That's the only way to manage them. Always keep them guessing. If you can't think of any other way to surprise them give them a bust in the jaw." , this just shows his disrespect towards women. There is also a number of different time in which Jason makes racial, sexual, and disrespectful remarks towards the minorities and women in the book. He is a very dislikable character, who is very hard to find good, somewhat decent redeeming qualities.
